Scott Sector Canoe Route

A canoe route in the heart of the Scott sector

This navigable circuit, starting from the Village historique Scott, connects several lakes within the Duchénier Wildlife Reserve over a distance of approximately 16,8 kilometers.

Ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, the circuit can be completed in a single day or extended over several days thanks to the rustic campsites located along the way.

Accessible to most paddlers, the route includes a few short portages and offers a moderately challenging adventure.

Highlights of the route

Every turn of the circuit reveals a new perspective on the natural and historical richness of the Scott sector.
A contemplative and immersive journey where nature still tells its story.

  • Artifacts of the first Village Scott
Remnants of the American private club active between 1895 and 1945, visible near Lac Lâche and the rustic Cheminées campsite.
These artifacts recall the presence of an old village of elite hunters and fishermen, destroyed by fire in the early 1950s.
  • Ancient forests
The route passes through ancient forests home to majestic cedar groves and towering white pines, impressive for both their size and rarity.
These stands are among the finest examples of mature forests found within Terfa's territory.
  • Abundant and diverse wildlife
Moose, white-tailed deer, beavers, otters, snowshoe hares, bats, and numerous birds of prey such as the barred owl and bald eagle find refuge in this area.
Nature lovers will enjoy privileged moments of observation, especially at dawn and dusk.
  • Scenic landscapes and natural stops
A small waterfall at Lac Lâche, crossed by a footbridge on the Cheminées trail, offers the perfect stop to admire the peaceful strength of flowing water.
A sandy beach at the Lac Perche campsite, known for the exceptional clarity of its waters, provides an ideal spot for a refreshing swim or a moment of relaxation by the lake.
